What We Know & What We Don't Know About the 2018 Ford Ranger Raptor

At Encinitas Ford, our inner off-road enthusiast was screaming with joy when we saw the first official footage of the 2018 Ranger Raptor. Once the excitement wore off, however, we realized we have far more questions than answers.

What we know:

  • The Ford Ranger will return to U.S. markets in 2019
  • The Ranger Raptor seems to be based on the current "global" Ranger platform
  • The Ranger Raptor is due to launch in Australia in 2018

What we want to know:

  • Will there be a Ranger Raptor in the U.S.?
  • When?
  • What are its specs?
  • Will the 2019 Ford Ranger coming to America be the same as the Australian model?
  • Is the Ranger getting a redesigned platform?

As you can see, we're bristling with curiosity—and the more Ford remains tight-lipped, the more we want to know.

So far, we can speculate that the Ranger Raptor will be less powerful than the larger F-150 Raptor, but will share many of its off-road-racing parts, like FOX Racing Shox. It will likely have a wider track, and more aggressive... well, everything.

And will it come to America? We sure hope so.
